When is this code of practice required?

You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to rent out a residential property in Western Australia. You must ensure that each external door to the premises is fitted with a deadlock or a key lockable security screen door that complies with this standard. Any exterior window of the premises which is easily accessible from outside must be fitted with a lock unless it is fitted with a security window grille that complies with this standard.

This standard sets out requirements for the performances of hinged and sliding security grilles and screen doors. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
